Boost Your Immune System with These 15 Foods

One of the best ways to stay healthy, especially in these times, is to make sure you immune system is functioning at its best.  Every single thing that we need to boost our immune system exists in nature.  Incorporating these foods and eliminating unhealthy ones will go a long way towards living a vibrant, healthy life.

  • Citrus – high in vitamin C
    • Oranges
    • Grapefruits
    • Clemintines
    • Tangerines
    • Lemons/Limes
  • Red Bell Peppers – high in vitamin C and beta carotene
  • Broccoli – chock full of minerals, vitamins A, C, E, fiber and antioxidants especially when lightly cooked
  • Garlic – high in sulfur- containing compounds like allicin
  • Ginger – may decrease pain and possibly lower cholesterol
  • Spinach – rich in vitamin C, antioxidants and  beta carotene especially when lightly cooked
  • Yogurt – great for vitamin D; look for “live and active cultures” on the container.  Make sure there is no added sugar
  • Almonds – high in vitamin E
  • Sunflower seeds – contains phosphorous, magnesium and vitamins B-6 and E
  • Tumeric – used an an anti inflammatory
  • Green tea – full of flavonoids, a kind of anti oxidant
  • Papaya – vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and folate
  • Kiwi – contains folate, potassium, vitamin K and vitamin C
  • Poultry – high in B-6
  • Shellfish – packed with zinc
